I am taking shorter showers and planting trees: Priyank Panchal

From planting trees, zero food wastage to ditching plastic, Gujarat celebs are also adapting to an eco-friendly lifestyle. On World Environment Day, as we spoke to a few of them, they emphasized the fact that it was time to give a thumbs up to sustainable living and bring about a change in our daily habits. And cricketer Priyank Panchal, who always loves associating himself with good causes, is one of them. Talking to us, Priyank, who is at home in Ahmedabad these days, shares, “I am using my vehicle a lot less now, and doing my best not to waste water. Taking shorter showers is a great way of reducing wastage of water. I do not use plastic bags, don’t waste food and I have planted a few trees at home. It gives me great joy to take care of the plants.” As a professional cricketer, he has to travel round the year, and it hardly leaves time for doing anything else. But now that he is home, he is consciously trying to make efforts to ensure that he can do his bit for the environment. Priyank adds, “I get inspired by my mother and my sister also, who have adapted to an eco-friendly lifestyle. Given the times we live in, it is very important and I try to make people around me aware about the same. We must do our bit because every small effort makes a big difference, and inspires a few more people to follow the example. So, we must continue to do our bit.”
