Here's a peek into Goan footballer Keenan Almeida's 'lockdown project'

After his stint with Mumbai City FC, Goan footballer Keenan Almeida was back in February. Within a few weeks, the lockdown was announced, and he's been social distancing at his Cuncolim home with his wife, Liza, and pets. After spending a few initial days taking part in viral challenges online and working out at home, he started taking up DIY projects to beautify his house and garden!

Over the last two months, he has made various furniture and home decor items, by recycling material available. He started out by converting planters into colourful water bowls for strays and a bird bath too. Tyres were converted into planters by placing them on top of each other and painting them in various bright colours. A cute sit out in the garden by using wood was next! Old doors and ladders were painted to create a hanging garden and an Instagrammable corner!

"I have never done this before. But since I had a lot of free time, I thought I could take it up. I took inspiration from Pinterest and my wife helped me too. She has a very artistic mind, so her ideas are great," he says. His latest project is a miniature easel for his wife who loves to paint. His wife and friends help him in his projects.

Wooden shelves to add some life to the kitchen, signage board with a touch of football, lamp holders and a lot more were created. He teamed it with his love for gardening, and placed plants and flowers at strategic locations to add to the space. Additionally, he took up kitchen gardening with his wife and planted several fruits, veggies and herbs likd vadde bhaji, tomatoes, black eye beans, watermelon, cucumber, bottle guord, ervil, ash gourd, tambdi bhaji, oregano, mustard and chilli.
