Great Britain, the theme country; Germany joins in after 12 years:All you need to know about Boi Mela 2024
The 47th International Kolkata Book Fair is being held at the Boi Mela Pra-ngan in Salt Lake between January 18 and 31 next year, with Great Britian as the theme country. This was announced at a press conference by the Publishers & Booksellers Guild on Tuesday that was also attended by British Deputy High Commissioner East & North East India, Andrew Fleming, and Director, British Council, East and North East India, Debanjan Chakrabarti. Here’s what you can expect at this edition of the mega fair.

The change in the dates of the fair mean good news for book lovers. They can now avail the holidays of January 23 and 26 apart from the two Saturdays and two Sundays to make the most of the fair

75 years of British Council in India
While Great Britain is the theme country of the book fair, there is more than one reason to celebrate. The year 2023-2024, marks 75 years of the British Council’s presence in India and Kolkata. “We are delighted that the UK will be the theme country at the International Kolkata Book fair once again. It will present us with a great opportunity to showcase the UK’s educational and cultural heritage while strengthening our bonds with India,” said Debanjan Chakrabarti.
