City witness an evening of music and literature
A recent cultural extravaganza, Journeys, was hosted by interdisciplinary artist Sujoy Prasad Chatterjee and musician Shibasish Bandopadhyay at Sisir Mancha. The event offered a blend of literature and music. The event started with the felicitation of poet Subodh Sarkar, elocutionist Pranati Tagore, theatre personality Bibhash Chakraborty, actor Solanki Roy, danseuse Paramita Saha, and Tagore exponent Prabuddha Raha.
Sujoy narrated literary verses by Raka Dasgupta, Amir Aziz, Amrita Pritam and Srijato Bandyopadhyay, to name a few, accompanied by Shibasish’s melodies. The reading of verses from Shakespeare’s timeless tragedy Othello by Sujoy captivated the audience. Shibasish also sang Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah, which was appreciated by all.
Speaking about the event, Sujoy said, “Journeys summed up my life in so many ways, and Shiba’s music turned it into a cherished rhapsody.”
Prominent faces from the film industry, including actor Jayant Kripalani with his wife Gulan, and actors Bhaswar Chatterjee and Koneenica Bandhopadhyay, attended the event.
