Motor Matters: Bhuvan Bam talks about buying his dream vehicle! Check out his dream car
Bhuvan Bam may be busy with his work as an actor and content creator, but beyond the camera, there’s a deeper passion that has stayed with him since childhood – his love for cars. He recently bought his dream vehicle – a Mercedes G-Wagon. For him, slipping into the driver’s seat of his G-Wagon is not just a luxury but the fulfilment of a dream that began years ago. “Whenever I saw a G-Wagon on the road, I always felt this should be mine someday,” he shares. He still remembers the test drive he took nearly a decade ago, which felt “just right”.
Owning one now brings a rush that’s hard to quantify. “I waited almost eight years, but when I finally got it, I realised what an unmatched road presence it has – the way it drives, the way the ignition comes alive... it’s an amazing piece of engineering,” he says.
‘I make it a point to explore cities in rental cars abroad’
Ask Bhuvan what makes him connect instantly with a vehicle, and he says, “Everything matters – the look, colour, ground clearance, but comfort is the real deal breaker. If it’s automatic, then the smoother the transmission, the better the drive. Nothing tops that.”
For him, driving is not just a practical task, it’s a sensory experience. “When I was in Delhi, regular road trips to the hills gave me peace. Whenever I am abroad, I make it a point to explore cities in rental cars. It gives me a completely different outlook on the country. Everything is different outside India, so I love driving abroad, it excites me.” His New Zealand trip remains a cherished memory, which included multiple cities, a rental car, breathtaking weather and scenery. “I’d love to do it again,” he says.
‘I still remember the first road trip with my family’
Going down memory lane to when his family purchased their first car, he says, “I watched my father bring in a second-hand Zen. For a household used to two-wheelers, that moment changed everything.” Suddenly, the family found themselves discussing parking space logistics and planning their first real road trip. “I still remember our first road trip. It was a lot of fun,” he laughs.
‘I’d love to travel across India on four wheels’
While he loves driving on roads in other countries, he wants to explore Indian destinations more. “I’d love to travel across India on four wheels. There’s so much to see... most of us haven’t even seen two per cent of our own country. Travelling across India in a car is a great first step.”
