Batman Day: The Dark Knight is a collector's & cosplayer's fave

Today, fans across the world unite to celebrate their caped crusader, the Batman.

"Batman is one of the most popular superhero characters among fans in India. Fans love the dark knight and his brooding style. Batman comics and merch are always in demand at Comic Con. The Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller and The Killing Joke by Alan Moore remain some of the most popular titles sold. Batman toys and merch are always in demand. I recently picked up a Batman statuette based on the art by Darwyn Cooke," shares Jatin Varma, founder, Comic Con India.

Talking about whether Batman has been desi-fied, Jatin, says, "To my knowledge beyond dubbing the various films in local languages, no mainstream indianising has been done. However, many Indian artists have certainly done their take on the Dark Knight as standalone artworks."

He shares while one of the early conventions in Bengaluru (2013), organised right after the release of the film The Dark Knight Rises, lots of fans had fun cosplaying Batman, but even now the character still remains a cosplayer's fave.
