On June 13, 2013, a bunch of boys debuted as a new band in South Korea, with the release of their album, 2 Cool 4 Skool. The septet called themselves Bangtan Sonyeondan, aka BTS. Their journey of a decade has been eventful and BTS, one of the biggest boy bands in the world, is kind of hard to ignore even if you don’t follow K-pop.
The boys, now on a three-year hiatus, will sadly not be together to mark their 10th anniversary since band members Jin and J-hope are away, serving their mandatory military enlistment. Other members are working on solo projects, and a reunion looks possible only in 2025.
However, to mark 10 years of BTS, South Korea will turn purple in June and the band will release a digital album, along with a book.

About a year after their debut, BTS named their growing fandom as ARMY, which stands for ‘Adorable M.C. for Youth’. Sure, the band has had its fair share of saesangs (obsessed fans), but true ARMY members are considered to be loyal to BTS and protective of the boys

Borahe: Made up, but the emotion is real
During a concert in 2016, V simply made up the word ‘borahae’, which literally translates to “I Purple You”. It combines two Korean words: Violet (bora) and I love you (saranghae). As V says, “Do you know what purple means? Purple is the last of the rainbow colours. Purple means I will trust and love you for a long time… I just made it up… A.R.M.Y I love you!”
