Austria and Ukraine Present a Joint Literary Voice at the New Delhi World Book Fair
As part of the flagship initiative Austrian–Ukrainian Cultural Cooperation in India, Austria and Ukraine came together at the New Delhi World Book Fair 2026, presenting a shared literary presence on one of India’s most important international publishing platforms.
During the fair from 10–18 January 2026, visitors to Hall No. 4, Stall H-05 encountered a carefully curated selection of contemporary and classic titles from both Austria and Ukraine. The joint stand highlighted the diversity, depth, and ongoing vitality of the two literary traditions, while encouraging dialogue with Indian readers, publishers, and cultural professionals.
A central highlight of the programme was the author discussion featuring Valerie Fritsch (Austria) and Lyubko Deresh (Ukraine), which has taken place as part of the official fair programme. The conversation offered insights into current literary developments in both countries and reflected on writing as a means of artistic expression, cultural exchange, and critical engagement with the present.
This joint appearance at the New Delhi World Book Fair formed part of a broader cultural cooperation framework and was organized by the Austrian Cultural Forum New Delhi, the Austrian Embassy in New Delhi, the Ukrainian Institute, and the Embassy of Ukraine in New Delhi, within the framework of cooperation between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Austria and Ukraine. Through this collaboration, Austria and Ukraine reaffirmed their commitment to international cultural dialogue and to strengthening literary connections with India.
