Art attack: Animal lovers paint in the company of pups and kittens
From wagging tales and belly rubs to brush stroking, animal lovers were accompanied by pups and kittens in Delhi, Gurgaon, Mumbai, Jaipur and Kolkata, as they took to their canvases to paint for a cause on Sunday. They were greeted by four-legged friends at their paint stations on Pawasana's very own Paint For A Cause Day. In Mumbai, the artsy activity was organised in a cat cafe, inviting cat lovers to pet cats as they paint.

"I felt like a five-year-old child painting and drawing in the company of puppies. I enjoyed myself thoroughly," said Nitin, who attended the session in Delhi for the first time and wants to do it again. Another participant, Sanjana, said, "It was my first time experiencing something like this. I didn't only enjoy painting around the puppies but the fact that we're doing it for greater good, gave me a lot of joy. Knowing that someone may actually adopt them made this exercise more meaningful." For dog lover Jaya, the paint date was therapeutic.

'Love indie dogs without judging them'

Since November 2022, Delhi-based dog rescuers and founders of Pawasana, Anwar Khan and Annanya Nautiyal, have been organising dog yoga sessions to create awareness about indie dogs and to find forever homes for the rescued dogs. Earlier this year, they started painting sessions with indie puppies and on September 3, they organised such sessions in five cities to initiate their own Paint For A Cause Day. Talking about the event, Annanya said, "The idea behind this activity is to have a judgement-free workshop where people paint without being judged. We encourge such an attitude towards indie dogs. We want people to treat the indies the same way, without any judgements. They deserve love too." By the end of the event, two puppies got adopted, one in Jaipur and one in Delhi.
