All this love is unforeseen: Sidhant Gupta
Sidhant Gupta has been garnering widespread acclaim for his role in Vikramaditya Motwane's recent OTT project. Gupta who plays a playwright named Jay Khanna was recently in Kolkata to promote the show and shared a chat with CT. Excerpts from the conversation:
How does it feel to turn into a national crush overnight?
(Laughs) It is a magical feeling as all the love that is pouring in ever since Jubilee was released is unforeseen. I thought the series had given me what it had to when we finished shooting for it, but the love that is coming my way mirrors pure love. Words fall short when it comes to describing this feeling.
What’s your favourite moment from the series? Is there any particular moment that has stayed with you?
It has to be the moment when we wrapped up our extensive shoot schedule and everyone was reduced to tears. The sets were to be dismantled and it felt like the world we were living in was coming to an end. Everything seemed worth it at that moment, as we realised how attached we had become to the entire project.
Starting off with television to garnering popularity with Jubilee. How has the journey helped you evolve as an actor?
I was exploring and riding with the flow when I started off on television. It stopped satisfying me creatively after a while as it became monotonous and repetitive, and there was no end to it. I soon paused and questioned myself why I wasn’t really feeling happy with what I was doing. I was always confident that I am capable, but the journey from there was a tough and painful one. Nevertheless, the journey made me understand myself in depth, as well as why I want to do the type of work I am doing now. An internal shift of thought opened up new opportunities externally. I hope I can find the right way to live through the characters I step into, as that is the only thing I can offer to my audiences.
