A musical soiree marking the silver jubilee of Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty's institution
Kolkata’s love for classical music needs no new introduction, and Shrutinandan undoubtedly is one of the foremost institutions that nurture city-based young talents. Shrutinandan recently turned 25 in presence of the founding members Padma Shri Ajoy Chakrabarty, Chandana Chakraborty and Kaushiki Chakraborty as students celebrated the day with riveting musical performances.
“Shrutinandan takes pride in being one of the pioneering institutes for children with an inclination towards Hindustani classical music. The establishment’s vision is to make music visible to practitioners, transcending concepts of music that are only associated with hearing. We have always harped on scientific methods of music training and honeyed excellence from some of the best from the Indian music fraternity such as Lata Mangeshkar, Bade Ghulam Ali Khan and Kishore Kumar to name a few. The silver jubilee celebration is a way to pay homage to everyone who has contributed to Shrutinandan,” shares Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty.
The evening saw mesmerising performances by students who played out original compositions by the maestro, followed by a surprise recital by an orchestra ensemble from Budapest. Pandit Yogesh Samsi also took to the stage to present the Tablar Gaan, while danseuse Malabika Sen graced the stage with her swift movements on a Tilana performance based on Carnatic music.
A special cover of Shrutinandan was also released by Indian Post in presence of the Governor of West Bengal CV Ananda Bose.
