Navratri Day 2: 5 things to learn from Goddess Brahmacharini and how to seek her blessings today

Navratri, the nine-day sacred festival of divine feminine power and the advent of Maa Durga on earth. Every day is in honor of the nine forms of goddess Durga, and the second day is in honor of Maa Brahmacharini, the goddess of penance, devotion, and self-control. Who is Maa Brahmacharini

The name Brahmacharini, signifies one who follows Brahmacharya, self-control and celibacy and it represents the ultimate stage of spiritual discipline and devotion. She is represented as a serene and peaceful goddess in white attire, carrying a rosary (mala), in one hand and water vessel (kamandalu) in the other. Maa Brahmacharini is believed to have suffered ten years of tapasya to appease lord shiva and get his blessings.

3/8

Set definite and meaningful objectives

Maa Brahamacharini's tapasya (penance) had a definite objective, to obtain Lord Shiva's grace. In the same way, having a definite goal provides one direction and purpose. Note down your goals and remind yourself daily why they are important. Clarity of mind enables one to remain alert even when distracted.

4/8

Develop patience and perseverance

Patience is one of the main attributes of Maa Brahmacharini. Success is not an overnight phenomenon. Cultivate endurance through hardships, failure and delays. Keep in mind, sustained effort over years bears long-term fruit.

5/8

Practice regular self-reflection

Maa Brahmacharini is holding a rosary in her hand, which represents meditation and self-awareness. Take each moment of the day to reflect on what has been achieved, habits and the attitude. Know what is supporting the growth and make informed choices.

6/8

Adopt simplicity

Maa Brahmacharini's asceticism reminds us to eliminate all the distractions and concentrate on what is important. Clear the physical and mental space, refuse what is unnecessary and give importance to tasks that are in line with the objective.

7/8

Develop healthy habits

Discipline loves routine, establishing daily habits that serve the objectives, be it waking up early, working out, or even meditating, consistency creates momentum, and minimizes the need for motivation alone.
