Kamlesh D. Patel on shaping young minds via meditation amid rise of technology: ‘Responsibility lies largely with parents’
With every passing second, the impact of technology is growing stronger. Especially when it comes to children, screen addiction is a serious issue. Amid the rising technical advancement and AI emergence, it is not even possible to keep children away from technology. However, there is still a way to create balance and shape young minds for a better lifestyle. As we connected with spiritual leader Kamlesh D. Patel, he told us that in this case, “The responsibility lies largely with parents.”
“We need to become role models for our children, sharing meaningful stories, spending quality time together on weekends, visiting places where both we and they can enjoy, going on nature walks, and encouraging real interactions. Practices like meditation and yoga deeply influence the tender psyche of children,” he continued in our candid conversation.
Fondly called Daaji, the spiritual leader highlighted how children learn from the practices of their parents. Sometimes, it might take years for them to acknowledge, but your practices are meant to leave an impact on their minds.
“When children see their parents meditating early in the morning, it naturally leaves an impression on their minds. They may not begin immediately, not as children, not even as teenagers, or perhaps not even after marriage. But there will come a time when they remember that their parents practiced these things. Even if it happens later in life, say at the age of 50, they may eventually begin exploring it. So, setting an example is essential,” said Daaji.
As we continued, the spiritual guide touched on the topic of ‘digital addiction’ and shared that even “We as adults often struggle to put our phones down, yet we expect children to do so. How is that possible?”
“The key lies in using technology correctly. It is a blessing—just like a knife. You can use it to cut vegetables, or you can use it to harm someone. Similarly, it depends on how you choose to use technology, whether for your growth or your destruction,” he highlighted
“There is so much knowledge available today. Personally, I learn a lot from videos and online resources. Sometimes it even feels like we are far behind because there is such an abundance of information out there. And now, with AI entering the picture, this landscape is evolving even further,” he concluded.
