Set the right pace

What do people do first thing after waking up? They log in, set their deadlines, complete their tasks and so on. But, they often think, is this the way to live life? Maybe not!
In the constant rush of life, finding the right time where you can be at peace and clearly focus on just yourself is getting difficult. But, there are a few tweaks that can be done to your daily life which will help you declutter and set the right tone for your day.
Here we list 6 simple habits that are spiritual in nature and will help you declutter and set the right tone for the day.

2/8

Morning meditation

First things first, if you are looking for a better, more organised day, begin your day with a few moments of quiet meditation and calm. Wake up early, preferable in the Brahma Muhurta if it is possible for you, find a comfortable spot, sit or lie down, and focus on your breath. As the thoughts start hitting you from left and right, gently acknowledge them and let them pass on without giving them much attention. Doing this will be difficult and scary at first, but with time it will calm your mind, reduce stress, and set a positive note for the day you have ahead.

3/8

Affirming and manifesting

As you wake up and meditate, while doing meditation or afterwards, say a few affirmations for the day ahead. Speak words of encouragement and positivity to yourself each morning and make sure that you believe in what you say.
Choose a few affirmations that you relate to, for example, ‘I am capable’, ‘I am worthy of love and success’, ‘Today, I choose and attract joy’ or something similar. Repeat these affirmations aloud or silently while looking at yourself or keeping your eyes closed and thinking about the good things.

4/8

Write what you feel

To start the next day on a good note, start planning ahead. it. A day before, once you are done with all the activities of the day, take a few minutes to write down 3 things you were grateful for, 3 things that upset you and 3 things you would like to improve tomorrow. It could be something as simple as the sun shining through your window or a conversation you had with a friend. Just make sure you write with honesty and don't overthink it.

5/8

Get some sunlight

Every morning, before you start the daily activities, spend a few moments outside, in nature, where the sunlight can reach you. Be it through a short morning walk, watering the plants or just for having your coffee outdoors, try to get some natural light so that your body functions are prepared for the day. Sunlight and nature are two of man’s best friends and have a very grounding effect that helps you centre your energy and perspective. While outside, take a deep breath and appreciate the environment around you.

6/8

Don’t pick your phone first thing

While this has become a part of common practice for people, especially working professionals, try NOT to start your day by looking at your phone. Disconnecting from screens and technology for at least the first hour after waking up can prove very effective in limiting screen time and will be a boon for your mind and eyes.
So, instead of reaching for your phone or laptop as soon as you wake up, do something that is a bit more calming. Play with your pet, talk to your family, sip your morning coffee, or something similar that will help you have a moment of peace and calm.

7/8

Chanting

An early morning practice that was an important part of the day for our ancestors was chanting. This would come in the form of hymns, mantras, naam-jap, or anything that helped them focus on the energies around them and the energy of the ultimate and divine.

Thus, adding a few minutes of chanting to your early morning routine, as less as 5 minutes to as much as you'd like, can really help set the right tone for the day.

8/8

Move, stretch, de-stress!

As you wake up in the morning, add some gentle movement or stretching to your routine which will wake up your body and mind. This could be in the form of some yoga, or random stretches, or some laughing exercises and so on. When doing this, pay attention to each movement you do and every time your body and muscles stretch. Feel those sensations in your body and allow yourself to be fully present in the moment. These simple stretches and exercises really wake you up and you then feel enthusiastic throughout the day.
