Sanskrit affirmations to try

Sanskrit, a beautiful language that emerged in India, and is famous for its flow, depth, and diction, has always been an amazing way to communicate and to bring about deep, meaningful messages. Be it the shlokas that children are taught in school, or the tattoos that people get etched onto their bodies to remind them of their skill and power, the love and respect for Sanskrit is surely returning.
So, here we mention 5 Sanskrit phrases that work as excellent motivations and affirmations.

2/6

Yata Bhaavo, Tat Bhavati

A beautiful Sanskrit phrase that means ‘What you feel is what ends up happening’ is this one. It is about the power of your thoughts and emotions and how they make shape, and break your life, destiny, and actions. This phrase is like a reminder that when we are going through something tough, or just times have been turbulent, it is still very important to think back, relax, and expect a better outcome from the universe. So, next time you feel stressed, agitated, or like things won’t turn out well, take a deep breath and remind yourself, ‘Yata Bhaavo, Tat Bhavati’.

3/6

Antah Asti Prarambh

The phrase ‘Antaha Asti Prarambh’ means ‘the end is also the beginning’. And this works as the perfect affirmation and motivation during the tough times of life. During situations when people feel that everything has ended, and there is no further redemption or changes in fate, just then God opens another door to show them that the end of something, is just the beginning of something new. This phrase should be remembered and repeated in challenging incidents and moments you have in life, for it helps give people a sense of hope and relief that it is not the end for their positivity and goodness.

4/6

Ishwar Asti Mam Shakti

A powerful affirmation for people who are especially close to God (or are wishing to be closer) is this one. ‘Ishwar Asti Mam Shakti’ simply means ‘God is my strength, God is my power’. In tough times when the mind wants humans to give up on everything they know and forget everything they believe in, it is easy to also forget that God is always out there looking out for them and guiding them through the thick and thin. And when someone chants this affirmation, this very simple phrase, it helps them believe in God, his strength, and his ability to set things right. The simple logic behind this one is that when we connect with a higher power, be it Lord Shiva, or Jesus, or anyone we look up to, it helps us gain our own strength too.

5/6

Ahamasmi Yodha

One of the most beautiful and powerful affirmations for anyone in this Universe is ‘Ahamasmi Yodhah’ or ‘I am a warrior’. A warrior is not just one who fights battles on the ground, on borders, or in another land, but also someone who is trying very hard to fight the internal battle, the battle of mind, heart, conscience, and whatnot and is trying to emerge victorious for the right side. This simple phrase when chanted, or repeated like an affirmation, helps people feel a rush of energy inside them as they call themselves and their spirit a warrior.

6/6

Aham Swayameva Paryaptah

A bit difficult to pronounce, but one with a beautiful and wholesome meaning is this Sanskrit phrase. ‘Aham Swayameva Paryaptah’ means ‘I am enough!’. During the hard times of life when self-doubt engulfs people, and hardships surround them all over, this phrase can help give a boost of morale and inner strength. This beautiful Sanskrit phrase is a reminder that we are enough, just as we are, and external validations and strength should always come second. In times when people feel incomplete because they are unable to do a certain act or thing, this phrase can help reassure them that however they are, as long as they keep trying to be better, they are enough.

For my first 29 years I had to live in a ghetto slum. The local Temple was the only place that was safe from criminal violence, and the only place that fed us regularly. We had to listen to and learn phrases like these before were served food. I listened and I learned. The alleged Sanskrit wisdom never helped me take care of business on the ghetto streets, even mere steps away from the Temple.
