Sanskrit affirmations that will help

There are times in life when we feel completely helpless. Things start going south, businesses fail, love life turns into a sham, and you just get in a really dark place within. And in times like these, people turn to spiritual means, one of them being affirmations.
And at a time when Sanskrit, often referred to as the Mother of all Languages, makes a resurgence among people, be it in the form of tattoos or general education, here we mention 5 Sanskrit phrases that work as excellent affirmations during tough times and lift up the human spirit.

2/7

Yata Bhavo, Tat Bhavti

One of the most beautiful Sanskrit phrases you can remember is ‘Yata Bhavo, Tat Bhavti’, which means ‘What you think, is what happens/what you become’. For many, this can be understood as the principle of Law of Attraction, where what you see and believe in is what gets attracted to you in the Universe, and eventually, similar things happen.
And so it becomes a reminder that no matter how tough the situation is, till the time I do not give in, better things will come to me and attract themselves to me.

3/7

Ishwar Asti Mam Shakti

Another amazing Sanskrit phrase to use as an affirmation during your tough time is ‘Ishwar Asti Mam Shakti’. It means ‘God is my power’, and it makes people feel protected, loved, and secure during tough times.
It is like saying one of the most powerful prayers and summoning all the Gods to stand by you like a shield, and when you place your trust on the divine and trust his power, you regain your lost strength and try things again.

4/7

Na Kadapi Khandita

A phrase fit for a warrior of life, ‘Na Kadapi Khanditah’ means ‘Never broken’. It is like the perfect affirmation for the human spirit that never breaks, loses, or disappoints, and during tough times, this phrase, when repeated like an affirmation, makes you believe in your inner power and reminds you that you will never lose.
It does not say that you can’t be in pain, or you should not experience failure at all! It just says that inside you there is still a fire that will be unshaken, you just need to make more efforts and give it another go.

5/7

Shilam Param Bhushanam

If your tough times have come because you were wronged by someone, or had to go through lies, deceit, and manipulation of any kind, this is the phrase that will help you during the sad days.
‘Shilam Param Bhushanam’ means ‘Character is the highest ornament’, and when repeated like an affirmation it brings your focus back to character. You look at integrity, kindness, and resilience, and when life becomes unfair or people misunderstand you and paint you in a bad light intentionally, this will remind you to stand tall and stay pure from within, because eventually everyone will see the real victor.

6/7

Dhiyo yo nah Prachodayat

A common phrase from a famous mantra, ‘Dhiyo yo nah Prachodayat’, basically means ‘I pray that the divine light guides us all’. And in times when you are stressed, overwhelmed, or feel like things just won't go your way, submitting to the divine can be a good option. It is a simple phrase that will act not just like a prayer, but also a request to God, and eventually, you will notice that you will feel better from the inside, almost as if a warm energy is protecting you and trying to help you get up again.
When your heart feels heavy and the mind feels hazy, speaking this affirmation to yourself will be helpful, and you will see that slowly the stress too will go away.

7/7

Na GurorAdhikam Tattvam

'Na Guroradhikam Tattvam' means 'There is no truth greater than the Guru. And this one particularly helps in tough times because it helps us realise that we can find the answers and solutions to the biggest problems of our life in a Guru.
