Mudras for strength

Mudras, or hand signs, are basically a form of meditation and control that very few people know about. Years ago when school Yoga instructors would ask us to sit in meditation, we automatically changed our hands into a Mudra, the Gyan Mudra primarily, but never bothered to ask why we perform it or keep our hands and fingers in a certain way.
These simple and symbolic hand gestures have been used for thousands of years in yoga, meditation, and traditional practices to channel energy, focus the mind, and influence our inner balance. And some of the most successful people in the world rely on these Mudras for grounding, for abundance, for clarity, and much more.
Here we mention 5 powerful hand mudras and their purpose.

2/6

Gyan Mudra

One of the most commonly performed mudras is undoubtedly the Gyan mudra.
When you sit in meditation or for a Yoga session, you touch the tip of your index finger to the tip of your thumb, while keeping the other three fingers extended and relaxed. This is the famous Gyan Mudra, and is believed to help people clear their mind to acquire more knowledge, more wisdom, and more experiences.
It is said that the Gyan mudra helps improve concentration, mental clarity, and focus, and on a very subtle level it stimulates the brain and nervous system.

3/6

Buddhi Mudra

Another common Mudra that many follow and perform is the Buddhi Mudra.
To do it, just touch the tip of your little finger to the tip of your thumb, keeping the other three fingers straight.
It is said that practicing the Buddhi Mudra helps balance the elements in your body, and is linked to intuition and communication skills. Some people also believe that Buddhi Mudra helps develop a sense of mindfulness, as it touches and activates the right energy channels, and people who meditate in Buddhi Mudra are better at catching others feelings, emotions, and subtle cues.

4/6

Bhairava Mudra

The Bhairava mudra is also known as the assurance and balance mudra, and to perform it, you simply have to keep your right hand over your left one, and make sure that both the palms face upwards. When in meditation, keep your hands on your lap, and then engage in dhyaan.
Bhairava mudra is believed to be grounding in nature, giving people not just a connection with their inner self but also a sense of power and assurance.
The Bhairava mudra in a way assures people that you are there for yourself, so you hold onto your own hand.

5/6

Ganesha Mudra

Ganesh Mudra is also powerful and rather simple to do. Just hold your left hand in front of your chest, and make the palm face outwards. Then, with the right hand, which will face inward, grip your left hand, and then lock the fingers. Gentle pull in this Mudra, and you meditate with the slight pull in the background.
It is said that Ganesha mudra helps people energise their heart, builds a sense of courage in people, and makes them internally powerful and strong to remove obstacles from their own way. Some experts also say that if you have been fearful, anxious, or are facing constant setbacks, doing this Mudra can help build courage. (Image: Beloved Yoga/Facebook)

Yoni Mudra

If you have ever wondered why personalities like Cristiano Ronaldo, Elon Musk, and others, sit with their fingers touching and their hands forming a diamond of sorts, it is the Yoni mudra they are performing.
In Yoni mudra, you simply bring your hands together in front of you, and join the tips of your index fingers and thumbs, forming a triangle. Then, interlace the other fingers inward so they’re hidden behind the joint fingers.
This mudra is believed to be the epitome of power, strength, grounding, and creation. It is said that this is the perfect mudra to sit in, not just during meditation, but also when in leisure, as it helps calm the nervous system, manage stress, and makes people feel a sense of silence within.
