Reasons why people prefer a job over FREELANCING

Disadvantages of freelancing

Freelancing is no joke. It can make you work extra hours and even lead to a lot of stress and uncertainty. People are afraid of freelancing due to several reasons. Here some people who tried freelancing share their biggest put offs.

2/6

No fixed amount of money

The biggest issue with freelancing is that your paycheck has no fixed amount nor a fixed date when it is going to come. Some months may get you a fat check and the other might get you hardly anything to survive on.

3/6

No fixed working hours

Unlike office hours where you work for a certain time period, even if they exploit you, some weekends may be a respite. However, when you are freelancing, there is no fixed time. The work can ruin your date, your weekend, your night of relaxation. The coverage can be round-the-clock. It is like you are at the beck and call of your client.

4/6

Accountability

In many instances, it has been observed that the client tends to drag and delay your payments. You keep chasing them because the client does not keep his/her word. Accountability can become a major issue because you are not exactly there on a contract basis. It is all words and discussions.

5/6

The payment process

When someone deposits money in our account, and the transaction becomes consistent, the income tax department requires you to let them know where the money came from. So saving yourself from the taxes can be an issue.

6/6

Job security

When the pandemic hit, many clients made freelancers cut their price because they knew that people would still work for them for their bread and butter. Even though many people who had regular jobs were sacked, the ones left still had a sense of job security. Besides the effect of the pandemic, employees have holidays, a PPF, pension, etc. This can be a major struggle for freelancers.
