Prince William and Kate Middleton to miss 2025 BAFTA film awards for THIS reason

Prince William and Kate Middleton will not be attending the 2025 BAFTA Film Awards ceremony. Kensington Palace has confirmed that the Prince and Princess of Wales will not be present at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts awards ceremony that is to be held on Sunday, 16th February.

Instead, Prince William, who has been the president of BAFTA since 2010, is expected to participate in a video presentation during the event. Apart from this William is also scheduled to visit the London Screen Academy, showing his continued support for nurturing young talent in the film and TV industry.


According to Kate Mansey, royal editor for the Times UK, the couple will not be attending the event because it coincides with their children's school break. She noted on X that "It falls on the first weekend of the half-term school holidays". Mansey added that Prince William will instead focus on "highlighting the next generation of film talent."

William and Middleton, parents of Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, usually make sure to attend the BAFTAs. However, Prince William attended the event alone last year while his wife was recovering from abdominal surgery. At that time, Princess Kate had not yet disclosed her cancer diagnosis. Following her chemotherapy, The Princess of Wales announced last month that she is in remission.

During the 2024 BAFTAs, William was spotted mingling with other big Hollywood stars including Bradley Cooper, Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, Emily Blunt, Cate Blanchett, and Emma Stone. Prince William and Kate Middleton last attended the BAFTAs together in 2023, where Kate wore a white one-shoulder Alexander McQueen dress, and Prince William wore a black tuxedo with a velvet jacket. However, they had skipped the event earlier as well. In 2021, William did not attend following the death of his grandfather, Prince Philip. The couple was also absent in 2022 due to diary constraints.
