Apply these great tips!

A person’s body language can say a lot about themselves—how they think, act, reciprocate feelings etc. Analysing one’s body language and acting accordingly can be handy in professional arenas. Your mannerisms can depict a lot about your personality and this is something interviewers and recruiters hunt for, in every critical interview. If you present yourself in a very diligent, calm and composed manner, then you may earn brownie points super fast! Hence, here listed are some body language tips that you can apply in a high-performance interview.

2/7

The first 10 seconds are crucial

Yes! You read that right. From the moment you walk through the door till you sit or shake your interviewer’s hand, every moment is crucial. Or specifically, the first 10 seconds count a lot. Make a powerful impression in the very first 10 seconds because interviewers rarely hire someone who makes a negative impression at the beginning itself.

3/7

Balance your eye contact

Always look straight at the interviewer when answering questions or talking about yourself. Keep your eye contact subtle, soft yet confident. Even if it’s a video interview, look straight into the camera and avoid looking towards anything else on the screen. This makes up for an engaging presence.

4/7

Nod occasionally

Giving a nod once in a while shows your active listening skills. Nodding is a sign you are accepting and listening to what the other person has to say. But do it only occasionally and not all the time, or else, it may reflect badly.

5/7

Move your hands gently

When you talk by moving your hands around, you are showing active participation. Gentle hand movements help you calm down your nerves and also helps the listener to slightly visualise what you are saying. Keep your palms open as this depicts openness to discussion.

6/7

Posture during the interview

Always keep your posture straight during the interview. Sit up straight, keep your shoulders back and chin up. This shows a very confident and open body posture. Avoid slouching as it may show a lack of interest. Face your body towards the interviewer so that they know your entire attention is towards them.

7/7

Smile!

Never forget to flash a genuine smile during the interview. Don’t end up smiling all the time but a genuine smile at the beginning and end of the interview can always work. Don’t forget to thank the interviewers when you exit the interview!
