5 things people notice about you at first meeting, as per psychology

Subtle things people notice about you at first meeting

Meeting someone for the first time can feel like a lot, but it’s often the little things that stick. It’s not just your outfit or what you say- - people notice unexpected details that leave a big impression. These small things can shape how they see you, even before they really get to know you. Here are five surprising things people pay attention to, backed by psychology. You might realize you notice these things too!

2/6

Your teeth

The health and personality of people is usually judged by the way you take care of your teeth. Your appearance will be enhanced to appear more attractive, healthy, and disciplined with white and straight teeth. Small imperfections such as slight misalignment or stains can make people assume you're not that careful or together when that doesn't really have to be so.

3/6

Your grammar and language

The way you speak reflects a lot about your education and background. Using the appropriate grammar in the clearest form shows that you're knowledgeable and professional; hence, people can take you more seriously. However, if you use poor grammar and fail to clearly state your speech, people may think you are uneducated or even disorganized and find yourself not competent.

4/6

Your confidence

The key in how people view your skills is through confidence. Standing tall, looking them in the eye, and speaking clearly is how most people see you as competent and being in charge. You might not feel this way, but confidence makes you look trustworthy and competent, even when you don't know what you are doing. However, slouching and not looking them in the eye might lead them to think that you lack competence or don't care about your life.

5/6

Your energy level

Energy levels determine so much in terms of how others might think about you or perceive your mood and personality. You could be energetic and very excited; this may lead to a judgment of people regarding you as entertaining, fun, and lively. But on the other hand, if you're reserved and don't show that much energy, then most of them would just find you as bored and indifferent. The energy you give off can shape how others feel around you, even if it doesn't reflect your true mood.

6/6

Your smile

A smile is perhaps one of the first things you notice about other people, and it can immediately give you a rapport. A warm, relaxed smile makes you appear friendly, approachable, and warm in a matter of seconds. On the other hand, a stiff or forced smile can make you seem insincere or uncomfortable, and if you don't smile at all, people might think you're unfriendly or unapproachable, even if you’re simply tired or not in the mood to smile.
