Times are changing and here’s why you must ignore these ‘most popular’ marriage advices

Marriage advices you should ignore

In this age of inflation, the only thing you can get for free is advice. And when it comes to marriage, every Tom, Dick and Harry would grab the opportunity and share a piece of his advice. While being so generous with their words of wisdom, what many people fail to realise is times are changing and their valuable advice on marriage should change too. Here are a few popular marriage advice which you must ignore at all cost.

2/6

You should get married and have children before you turn thirty

Come on! A man has launched his car in the space and we are still being told why we should tie the knot and have children before turning 30. Age is no bar when it comes to marriage, at least these days when you can freeze your eggs and get a hair transplant done. Honestly, you should concentrate on finding the right partner rather than worrying about your age.

3/6

The man should earn and the woman should run the household

Really? A girl works as hard as a boy to complete her education and earn a degree. In any office, she is as productive as her male counterpart. And why should a man shy away from running the household? We should never encourage such discrimination after marriage.

4/6

Sex can solve any fight

No. Never. Don’t treat sex like a medicine to soothe hurt egos after a fight. Differences in a married couple’s life should be sorted through discussions and talks. Don’t wait to heal those wounds between the sheets.

5/6

You need to adjust and make compromises no matter what

We agree, every relationship requires adjustments and compromises. But it does not mean you need to succumb to all situations only to make the marriage work. There is a limit to which a person can make compromises or adjust but if it comes at the cost of your self-esteem or respect, you know when or where to draw the line.

A marriage is for a lifetime

There used to be a time when divorces were considered a taboo. No matter how incompatible you are with your partner or are a victim of domestic violence, you have to tolerate everything and continue being married. But not any longer. If a marriage does not work even after putting your best efforts, you can always walk out of it.
