Why you should rethink divorce during pregnancy

There is no doubt that getting a divorce is tragic, no matter what the conditions are. However, if you happen to be pregnant and you are seriously considering making such a decision, it can be all the more stressful. Moreover, if you are stressed because of some marriage tensions around the time you are expecting, things might get a bit too tricky. Coping with divorce while pregnant can be very stressful for the mother and can also affect the pregnancy. Thus, before you take this call, here’s why you should rethink divorce during pregnancy.

2/6

Serious decisions mustn't be taken when you are overwhelmed

Hormonal changes are a part and parcel of pregnancy. This can result in the fluctuation of your emotions as well. All this can make the relationship a bit stressful, and that's the reason you should not consider divorce during pregnancy. You would be in a much better headspace once the baby arrives, and when you have got back to some sense of normalcy.

3/6

Being alone while pregnant can be trying

When pregnant, things are a lot easier for women if they have the constant support of their partners. This also applies to post-pregnancy as well, when the baby arrives. When there is a little person growing inside you, you are bound to be physically exhausted quite often. Having someone at this time can be extremely beneficial.

4/6

Children tend to be raised better in a two-parent home

According to The Heritage Foundation, an American think tank, children of divorce are more likely to experience poverty, to be a single parent, and also deal with emotional issues. Its data also suggests that single mothers tend to have increased levels of physical and mental illnesses as well as addictions.

5/6

You need financial support

When you decide to have a baby, everything in your life changes, including your finances. Visiting the doctor, babyproofing the apartment, and making sure that you have the money in order to provide healthy and safe labor and delivery - all costs a lot of money.

6/6

A baby can help you both heal

Although no couple must have a baby to 'save' their relationship, the reality is that it can make some of the things that you have been fighting for fixable.
