A girl’s height does not come in the way of dating her or getting married to her now
Tom Cruise was married to Nicole Kidman and Katie Holmes who were taller than him, Jenifer Lopez was taller than Marc Anthony, Leonardo Di Caprio is shorter than his current girlfriend Erin Heatherton, Catherine Zeta Jones is taller than her husband Michael Douglas, Salman Rushdie is shorter than his current girlfriend and closer home Mehr Jessia is taller than her hubby Arjun Rampal and many B-Town actresses are taller or equal in height to the heroes working opposite them.It seems with the way conventional looks and relationship equations have changed, it does not matter to the metrosexual man, if the girl is taller than him!
Bollywood actor Rajpay Yadav is married to a girl who is 2-3 inches taller than him. He says, “In fact, I am more confident when the girl I am with, is taller than me.” Many Hollywood actors and B-Town actors today have no qualms in being seen with a girl who is taller than them. Earlier it was about the girl being younger, shorter and a sign of how the ideal couple looks – with the man always being taller than the woman but today, a taller woman is accepted and a man has no issues flaunting an arm candy wife if she is slightly taller. Singer-composer Kailash Kher’s wife is also taller than him!
Hiren Bakshi, a surgeon who is dating a girl 1 inch taller than him feels it’s all in the mind. He says, “If you love her nothing matters. If you are getting married to show off your wife to the world, then I don’t think it is the right way.” Being taller or any other outward appearance now does not come in the way of dating a girl or getting married to her and its all cheers to the men who have risen above the conventional norms of society. Janki Patel, a model is dating a guy who is shorter than her. She feels, “Sometimes it does feel awkward when people are observing the first thing about you and mention how we are not the ideal looking couple. But when he makes me laugh and when we go out and enjoy, I simply forget about it. Besides, ‘height’ has never been an issue in our relationship so I have decided not to bother with it. In fact we joke about it.”
So the next time you fall in love with a guy who is shorter than you, remember you fell in love with him and not because you had to look ‘ideal’ at the wedding!
