Do not be too focused on your partner

"If your life is aimed at some goal, then you move in the direction and relationship will move along. If all your focus is just on your relationship, it will not work," says Gurudev. The idea is to be together as a couple, but also focus on individual growth and achievements in life which will make your life more fulfilling.

3/6

Give space to each other

"For love to blossom, there needs to be longing, and longing needs a little space. If you destroy longing, if you don't allow longing in your relationship then love does not grow," says Gurudev Sri Sri Ravishankar. It is said that absence makes the heart grow fonder, and truly so.

4/6

Don't be too giving in a relationship. Allow your partner to also give!

"In a relationship, see that the other also contributes to your life so that they don't feel completely worthless. For love to blossom, self-worth is essential," says Sri Sri Ravishankar.

This also holds true as per psychology-- called the Benjamin Franklin effect. According to it, people like others more when they do something for them. So, don't hesistate and ask your partner for advice or small favours.

5/6

Let go

"Many have a problem of letting go of control. This results in anxiety and restlessness, and it sours relationships," Sri Sri Ravishankar says. So, sit back and relax or try mindful practices like meditation, that will positively impact your relationships.

6/6

Have a sense of reverence

"It is the reverence in every relationship that saves the relationship. Often you do not have reverence for that which you own, and losing that reverence happens unconsciously. Reverence in ownership frees you from greed, jealously and lust," says Sri Sri Ravishankar. So practice gratitude for what you have in life!
