FAMILY TIME
"Naah , it's certainly not such a desperate scenario," remarks actress Aarti Chabria, for whom weekends are the time to catch up on her extended family. "That is the only time when I can spend some quality time with my grandparents, who are my life! For a girl like me for whom family is a big priority, weekends are a boon and although it'd be great to have someone special, I certainly don't mope around for him."
COMPLETING UNFINISHED TASKS
Similar thoughts are echoed by the dashing Nikkhil Arya who confesses that he's had his share of mingling with the opposite sex and is currently single and not quite ready to mingle, completely out of choice. "At one point I realised that hanging out with girlfriends was preventing me from doing so much stuff that I wanted to. Not that it's bad to have a girlfriend; I'd love to have one but as of now, I use my weekends in doing stuff like playing squash, doing yoga etc. — things that were on my list of priorities for a long time but I never got down to doing them."
CLEANING UP
Weekends are also used by singletons for catching up with unfinished tasks, as Aarti and Nikkhil vouch for. "I am a complete cleanaholic and when I'm not visiting my family, I'm clearing out my closet and arranging my stuff at home" , says Aarti. Nikkhil too uses this time to answer to emails, organising paperwork etc. when not partying.
IT'S PARTY TIME
But that is not to say that singles do not party at all. Far from it, they have a rocking time, if Raima Sen is to be believed. "I and Riya usually have this huge common gang of friends at home; we either cook for them or order takeaways. We watch movies or if we are in a mood for partying, we go out to the popular nightspots and dance the night away. Even when either of us was seeing someone, that person too would get included in this group, so whether we are attached or single has hardly changed the way we spend our weekends. It's always been rocking for us!" says Raima.
CATCHING UP WITH FRIENDS
It seems that having a gang of friends is always a boon for singletons, especially so, if they all are single as you are, as in the case of Minissha Lamba, who says, "In my group, none of us are attached; so, it's just all of us for each other and we have the time of our lives by going out for dinners or catching up on a latest flick." Catching up on movies together also is Kunal Khemu's idea of having a fun weekend. The actor, who's a major film buff, loves to catch up on the latest movies with friends, chilling out at someone's house.
So, be it completing unfinished tasks, chilling out with friends, going out camping or simply chatting up at a coffee shop —there's seems to be no dearth of entertainment avenues for singles. Looks like the picture is not so grim after all or else these singletons would not have been unanimous about preferring their status quo. No speed-dating or dating clubs for these guys! Kunal remarks , "The very thought of choosing someone as your date on the basis of a three minute meeting is a scary and non-trustworthy proposition . I think it's more for those who are really desperate to get a date and I'm certainly not one of them."
Raima has the final word as she says, "One is just so free and uninhibited when one is single. I wonder why would one want to rush into a relationship chucking up all this? Singlehood is rocking and I plan to make the most of it as much as I can!"
Have a nice weekend!
