Meghan Markle reveals her 'nickname' for Prince Harry and the story behind it
The soft launch now seems like a hardcore one! The return to the limelight has already taken place. Meghan is all over the place now!
A while ago, when a leisurely suited Meghan (who very much meant business) showed up at NYC for an important event, Prince Harry was seen accompanying her and cheering for his dear wife from the fences! No wonder Meghan is grateful for a ‘supportive’ husband and partner!
Although the senior royal couple is popular as ‘Prince Harry and Meghan’ on the internet, and now being known as ‘The Sussex’ (thanks to the clarification given by Meghan herself on her show With Love, Meghan), turns out, like every other couple, they have their very own nicknames for themselves!
What’s in the nickname!
Since the Megxit in early 2020, when Meghan and Prince Harry stepped down as Senior Royals, the couple has relocated to Montecito, California, where they now reside with their kids. After they departed from the British Royal Family, the couple has been able to become more open and unrestricted in their demeanor. However, Meghan revealed that it wasn’t like this even when she was dating Prince Harry. If anything, the Duchess of Sussex shared that they used code names for each other – the ones have now become nicknames!
Looking back on the beginning of her and Prince Harry’s romance — when “everything was in code” — Meghan revealed, “People didn’t know we were dating.”
She explained to “Jamie Kern Lima Show” listeners. “I couldn’t tell anyone who I was dating, so we were just on a letter basis.”
Meghan shared that’s how they picked their initials, M and H, for each other.
The days of secrecy and codes are gone, but the names remain.
Not only do the royals still refer to each other as ‘M’ and ‘H’, but Meghan revealed that their “close friends and family” do, too.
Meghan Noted, “It stuck,” adding, “I like it. I like nicknames a lot. I love nicknames.”
The relationship timeline:
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry started dating in mid-2016. According to the couple, they first connected with each other via Instagram, and they have also said that they were set up on a blind date by a mutual friend in July 2016. In November 2017, Kensington Palace announced that the pair had officially gotten engaged following about a year of dating.
Almost a year later, in May 2018, Prince Harry and Meghan married at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle in a star-studded ceremony.
In 2019, Meghan and Harry welcomed their first child, a son, Prince Archie.
In early 2020, Meghan and Prince Harry announced that they were stepping down as Senior Royals and relocated to Montecito, California.
In 2021, the couple welcomed their second child, a daughter, Princess Lilibet.
