Being unable to bond with a human can still be worked on but how do you strengthen a relationship between a man and his computerised wife who is now defective due to a technological problem? Akihiko Kondo, 38, a fictosexual man who has been married to a hologram for 4 years says that he is unable to bond with his wife because the technology has been discontinued. For the unversed, fictosexual people are those who are attracted to fictional characters and Kondo happens to be one of them.

Kondo had married a computerised version of a pop star 4 years ago. His wife, the hologram bride named Hatsune Miku, dated Kondo for 10 years before they got married in 2018. He had spent 17,300 dollars on the wedding.

The machine, Gatebox, gave Kondo the chance to propose to Miku. He invited his family and co-workers but none of them turned up. However, 39 people attended the ceremony which included strangers and online friends who too were “fictosexual.”

According to BBC, Kondo had two reasons why he chose a wedding publicly as many would think he has lost it. He said: “The first one is to prove my love to Miku. The second one is that there are many young otaku people like me falling in love with anime characters. I want to show the world that I support them.”

According to Japanese newspaper Mainichi, Kondo and Miku are unable to talk because of a technological block in Miku. Gatebox allows users to interact with fictional and hologram characters. Just like Kondo, there are many other people who have unofficially married their fictional lovers.

Even after the technological issue, Kondo is in no mood to give up. As per reports, he says that his feelings for Miku are real and intact. Kondo told Mainichi that his "love for Miku hasn't changed. I held the wedding ceremony because I thought I could be with her forever."

As of now, he carries a life-size version of Miku, who is depicted as a 16-year-old popstar with neon blue hair.

Their love for Miku developed when he would cheer himself up by watching videos of Miku the whole time, after being bullied at work,” he told Mainichi.
