Indian divorced men confess their reasons for leaving their wives

Divorce becomes necessary if you are not happy in your marriage for different reasons. We spoke to a few divorced Indian men and here are some of the reasons why they severed ties with their spouses.

2/8

Cheating

“My wife cheated on me with my cousin. I had proof as well. It was painful for me because, in this arranged marriage, I had finally started falling for her. The divorce took a year.”

3/8

Psychotic behaviour

“Well, one of my friends had to get a divorce for his own sanity. His wife had become a control freak and often threatened to kill herself for small reasons like the time he could not pick up her phone call while he was in a meeting. One day he came home late and found her sitting in a chair in the middle of the hall with a saree wrapped around her neck. And they were in a relationship for 8 years before marriage and he never saw that coming”

4/8

Religious differences

“I married a Christian girl, (we are Hindus but not very traditional), and slowly she and her parents started talking to my parents about Christ and his miracles, and they apparently wanted to start going to church over time. They had arguments because I asked my relatives to not give her a hard time and let her be, but her family didn't do this. Every family function became an issue as someone's relative would try to spread the word of God, finally, when our daughter was born, there was an argument over baptism. I wanted my daughter to be older and able to choose her religious beliefs. It blew apart and we had a divorce. I am allowed to see my baby girl twice a month.”

5/8

Mental instability

“The girl was not mentally stable, she would sit on an open terrace in the hot Chennai summer, when asked cried, and said nothing, My friend dropped her home thinking she is getting homesick. She sent a divorce notice, and we were shocked! Then we learnt that she underwent treatment and therapy for psychological illness. They got divorced a while back…”

6/8

Alcoholism

The girl said she'll not come to my friend if he doesn't stop drinking, and sadly, my idiot of a friend chose liquor over married life.”

7/8

No filter

“My cousin’s wife used to share everything with her parents, even their intimate things. His last straw was when his lifelong savings matured and he received around 8-9 lakh. That amount became his in-laws' money as his wife had promised to give the full amount to her brother. Now he is happily divorced and has bought a new home with that amount as a down payment and the rest from the bank."

8/8

Immaturity

"Married my high school sweetheart at 30. Turned out she was a 16 year old stuck in a 26 yr old body, totally immature for her age, never held a stable job for more than 3 months. Also, bi-polar (suicide threat level). Her manic phases (hypomania) made her go seek other random guys at bars/pubs (I only caught them texting inappropriately) but that was the end of the line for me (bi-polar or not) after 2 years of that bull shit."

Typical problem with Chirstains and Muslims, they think all other faiths are inferior only they are superior. Hence the conflict.
