How Zerodha CEO Nithin Kamath met his wife Seema Patil: Their love story
Zerodha CEO Nithin Kamath is much in the news lately-- this time for his prompt response to a customer's email, which has gained much social media attention. A few days ago, a product manager from Bengaluru, Sachin Jha, wrote to Zerodha CEO Nithin Kamath, stating that he had to close his trading account on Zerodha since his wife joined a global investment bank. The reason: Jha's wife's new company had a strict compliance policy to terminate all Zerodha accounts, with a lack of trust in the platform being cited as a major concern as it is a digital-only platform and lacks any physical banking spots.
Though Sachin Jha sent the email to Nithin Kamath, he did not expect the CEO to respond to it. However, Kamath replied to the mail within minutes, and his team were quick to take action regarding this matter. Pleasantly surprised, Jha took to social media to share this development-- praising Nithin Kamath on his swift reply and the customer-centric approach at Zerodha.
While much is known and written about Nithin Kamath's professional live and work ethics, his personal life is largely out of the spotlight. For the unversed, Nithin Kamath has been married to Seema Patil for over two decades, and the couple have a son named Kiaan together. Here's a look at their love story and what keeps their marriage going:
How Zerodha CEO Nitin Kamath met his wife Seema Patil
Kamath wrote, "Here is a counter-argument in an age of short-term relationships: A steady relationship is underrated. Not having a volatile personal life makes life better. It also improves the odds of doing well personally and professionally.
"We humans are social creatures, and we are hardwired to seek partners. But I don’t think a perfect partner exists. We all have our strengths and weaknesses, and relationships are about compromises. Having said that, sometimes people aren't compatible, and in such cases, ending the relationship makes sense. Everything else needs a lot of work but has a significant long-term upside," he added.
Talking about how he met his wife and life partner Seema and credited her for his success, Nithin Kamath further wrote, "Seema and I met while working night shifts at Ranjan Pai’s call centre called Dial M (Manipal group) back in 2002. It has been 20+ years of ups and downs, and the relationship has been crucial for whatever personal and professional success I have had."
In 2021, Nithin Kamath's wife Seema Patil, was diagnosed with breast cancer and it took her roughly a year to battle the deadly disease. Talking to Dilip Kumar on 'The Other Side' podcast in 2024, Seema spoke about her cancer diagnosis and how she overcame it. She also spoke about her husband Nithin Kamath, and credited him for being her pillar of strength in such difficult times. "He joked for me, I laughed for him. Work for him is a good distraction. He was always there, but I don't think he was stressed out. He never thought in a negative way. He knew that this is something that we have to deal with and I would be fine," Seema had shared.
One can see how Nithin and Seema have stayed with each other through life's ups and downs, and this has made their marriage successful. Couples today can surely learn a lesson or two from the CEO and his wife.
