QuackQuack, a dating app, conducted a consumer research analysis on the dating landscape, focusing on the distinctions between genuine connections and transient moments of solitude. Surveying 10,000 participants across tier 1, 2, and 3 cities, the majority being professionals, business owners, and students, the study explored the perspectives of GenZ (20-26) and Millennials (27-35).

"Genuine connections require introspection, and our study pushed our users to introspect and come up with the best possible solutions to tell love from being in love with the idea of love. We are close to 30M users and have noticed many individuals getting enough matches but not results. We believe it is solely because more users are connecting out of sheer boredom or loneliness instead of compatibility," said Ravi Mittal, CEO, QuackQuack.

Consistency of interactionRegarding gauging the authenticity of a connection, the study found that consistency of interaction plays an important role. 37% of Tier 2 daters (27-35) suggested that sporadic outreach and varying interaction durations may signify a quest for temporary companionship.

Emotional fulfilmentIn terms of emotional fulfilment, 29% of male daters from Tier 1 cities highlighted the importance of assessing one's feelings post-interaction. Joy, satisfaction, and a sense of completeness indicate genuine emotions, while temporary relief or emptiness may signify a connection rooted in loneliness.

Long-term PerspectiveIt emerged as a key factor in distinguishing authentic connections. 45% of women from Tier 2 and 3 cities emphasized that discussions about future plans, shared goals, and commitment suggest a deeper connection, unlike connections arising from boredom, which lack a clear vision for the future.

IntrospectionThe study also underscored the significance of introspection in understanding one's motives. 31% of daters (25-35) advocated for questioning the desire for a relationship, envisioning a future with the person, and considering the depth of knowledge about the individual beyond surface-level details. The participants suggested that a few hours of introspection could reveal the true nature of one's connection.
