How has sex changed in the past 50 years?

What is the most intimate, physical form of love that also has lust, desire and sensuality knitted together? It’s sex. The heavy breathing, touching and grabbing of bodies becomes so much more sensual when sexual pleasure and satisfaction becomes a priority in relationships. Do not misunderstand; love is considered to be the most important aspect of any relationship but, love without sex is bare, empty and unfulfilling.

The lack of awareness or communication about important sexual matters has brought a huge gap in sex education among people. To contemplate further, it is not just India, but the whole world in general that has never come forward with the idea of openly accepting sex.


But things have changed.


It is the 21st century. Times are progressing. Women are looking up to each other to be in tune with their sexuality and express their desires in a more communicative way. Things aren’t the same hushed-up manner, as they used to be. Women have begun expressing their desires in a more definitive way. Long gone are the days when women would lay lifeless on the bed for their men to solely enjoy sexual pleasure. Women now get on top and move their way around to reach an ever-amazing orgasm.


With emerging sex toys and vibrators, women and men both have broadened their perspectives on how sex should be enjoyed. Women now like to take charge and talk dirty, sweet nothings in their partner’s ears expressing their carnal, sensual desires. Men have also become vulnerable and expressive with what they need in a sexual relationship. People are no longer bound to forcibly be in committed relationships to enjoy sex. Casual hookups have become an emerging trend where people are prioritising their sexual needs over society’s traditional paradigms.

People are coming forth with their sexuality and urge to know more about sex. One of the best parts about how sex has changed over the past 50 years is how people are now getting comfortable with identifying and accepting their sexual orientation.

It is not just the adolescents or the youth who are trying to bring in a change, but people from older generations are also trying to take a step into the broad perspective of accepting sex as a natural desire. Parents are no longer trying to silence their children but encouraging them to use protection for safe sex. While there is a large part of the population that is yet to accept this broad mindset, discussions and acceptance of sex are moving forward, at a steady rate.
