Future-predicting Norwegian princess marries healer who claims to have "risen from the dead"

Norwegian princess Märtha Louise, who belongs to one of the oldest monarchies in Europe, married an American self-styled shaman Durek Verrett in an intimate wedding ceremony this weekend. Princess Martha and shaman Durek's wedding was attended by 350 guests at Vinje Farm in Norway on August 31, 2024. A former divorcee Märtha Louise, 52, calls herself to have supernatural abilities to see the future and speak to angels, while her now-husband shaman Durek Verrett, 49, is a self-proclaimed spiritual healer.Durek has also claimed to have "risen from the dead".

Princess Märtha and shaman Durek's unusual lives have often caught people's attention. Talking about their marriage, Durek had earlier said that the ceremony with Märtha was more of a vow renewal instead of a vow exchange, as per reports. He had claimed that in his past life, he was a pharaoh while back then Princess Märtha Louise was his wife!

Born on September 22, 1971, Princess Märtha Louise is the eldest child of Norway's King Harald V and Queen Sonja. It was in May 2019, when Princess Märtha and shaman Durek publicly confirmed their relationship after meeting each other through a mutual friend. And over the years, their relationship only grew stronger. When the whole world was shut during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Princess and the shaman stayed in touch through long notes and poetry which they dedicated to each other. The couple have been quite vocal about their love for each other on social media.
After dating for roughly three years, in June 2022, shaman Durek proposed to Princess Martha with a beautiful ring made of pale-green Brazilian emerald and diamond. He also got the approval of King Harald V and Queen Sonja for marrying their daughter. Back then, Princess Martha had called shaman Durek her twin flame.

However, some people questioned her relationship with Durek, considering his doubtful past. For the unversed, Durek had earlier claimed that he was HIV positive, and he healed himself-- an incident which shaped his life as a shaman, as per the Daily Mail. He has also claimed that in 2002, he had kidney failure and he was cured and later came back to life from it! Verrett also claims that he communicates with a broad range of spirits and has a medallion which helps ward off spells and cure diseases.
Shutting down critics who doubted her relationship with Durek, Princess Martha had said in 2022, “I don’t choose my partner to fit any of the norms or boxes people have set for me.”
Later that year, Princess Märtha Louise announced that she was stepping down from her royal duties, however, she retained her title. Thus, agreeing to not use it for any commercial purposes. After their wedding, her now husband shaman Durek Verrett will not have any royal title or duties.
Finally in August 2024, after being together for over five years, Princess Martha and shaman Durek married each other in a small intimate wedding.
Princess Martha was earlier married to Norwegian author-playwright Ari Behn for 14 years, and they have three children together. Meanwhile, shaman Durek was married to Zaneta Marzalkova from 2005 to 2009. His bio on Instagram reads, "Servant of God, Energy Activator, Owner of Lit Vibe Meditation, Author of "Spirit Hacking" Alchemy Elemental Tarot, Ancient Wisdom Today Podcast". His high-profile clients include Gwyneth Paltrow, Selma Blair, among others.
The couple has sold the wedding photo rights to British celebrity magazine Hello! and the film rights to Netflix.
