After much speculations about separation between Olympic medalist MC Mary Kom and her husband Karung Onkholer Kom (popularly called Onler), Mary Kom announced her divorce this year. The legendary boxer shared the news in a social media post, putting all rumours to rest. As per the official statement shared by her, Mary Kom and Onler's divorce was finalised on December 20, 2023, with mutual consent and under Kom customary laws. The former couple got married in 2005 and have four children together.

Olympic bronze medalist and former number 1 badminton player in the world, Saina Nehwal announced her separation with fellow shutterler Parupalli Kashyap on social media recently. The former couple first met at the Pullela Gopichand Academy in Hyderabad and fell in love over time. However, seven years after their marriage Saina Nehwal and Parupalli Kashyap decided to call it quits and go their separate ways. "Life takes us in different directions sometimes; we are choosing peace, growth, and healing for ourselves and each other. Thank you for understanding and respecting our privacy," Saina's post read.

Earlier in 2025, rumours of former cricketer Virender Sehwag and his wife, Aarti Ahlawat, heading for a divorce after roughly 20 years of marriage. As per reports, Sehwag and Ahlawat have been living separate for many months and have even unfollowed each other on social media. However, neither Sehwag nor his wife have released any official statement regarding their separation.

Indian bowler Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree got divorced earlier this year, after months of staying separated. The cricketer met choreographer, Dhanashree Verma, during COVID-19 as Yuzvendra had connected with Dhanashree to take online dance classes from her. Soon love blossomed between the two and they got engaged in August 2020, followed by their marriage in December 2020. But, their marriage lasted only two years as their relationship couldn't survive the test of time.

On January 6, 2025, Japanese tennis star Naomi Osaka surprised fans by announcing her breakup with partner Cordae. The couple began dating in 2019 and welcomed their daughter, Shai, in 2023. Despite their journey together, their relationship couldn’t withstand the challenges and came to an end earlier this year. Still, Naomi expressed her appreciation for Cordae, calling him a wonderful person and an amazing father.
