Check these tips out, they’ll come in handy!

Nobody wants to be betrayed or lied to. But liars surpass all trust screenings, quite slyly. It can be very difficult to identify a liar because they are usually very efficient in covering up their tracks. But sometimes, there are certain hints that point towards dishonesty. So, it’s not always impossible to identify a blatant liar. To make it easier for you, we bring to you some easy and simple ways to spot a liar.

2/7

Eye contact

Liars will always avoid looking directly into the eyes, while uttering a lie. They will avert their eyes and look here and there. They might blink rapidly or stare into space frequently, as well.

3/7

Body language

A person’s body language can tell a lot about them. A liar will generally keep themselves enclosed. They will keep their hands hidden, or might even tap their feet nervously. Licking or smacking the lips oddly is also another sign the person is not telling the truth.

4/7

Changing the subject

A liar will always try to change the current topic. They feel vulnerable while telling lies. So, they try changing the subject so that they don’t have to tell any more lies, and so that the listener doesn’t pry on further to reveal the truth.

5/7

Defensiveness

When you confront a liar about the possible truth, they become defensive and start attacking you with questions about yourself, rather than theirs. They become overly defensive and refuse to answer any questions. They even try to divert the conversation by shifting the tone towards you.

6/7

Sweating

A liar will excessively sweat because they feel stressed and anxious while telling lies. Sweating is an indication that the person is very stressed and is probably telling a lie.

7/7

Slow breathing

People tend to breathe heavily and slowly when they lie. Their breathing gets shallower, as the heart rate radically increases when they are nervous or stressed. And with these, you can easily identify if the person is lying or not.

Good article. Knew few of these points and genuinely help me identify lies, or atleast help me put the question mark. I suggest you to read Joe Navarro books and watch his interviews to learn more about body language.
