When Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal announced to the world their undying love, by posting their wedding pictures, it took the world by storm. Other than some basic rumours, nobody was aware of the two getting married or, simply being in a committed, exclusive relationship! They kept their romance under wraps, and straightaway announced that they have gotten married. Neither of them posted pictures of each other or were spotted together at any place. The level of privacy was so high, that people are now trying to ‘Katrina-Kaifing’ their relationship!

This term relates to how Katrina Kaif kept her entire relationship and wedding details under wraps, only to announce to the world her exclusive marital status only after she got married to her beau, Vicky Kaushal. She meant to keep her entire relationship super private and personal, so that no one can talk about them, at all.

Many people aim at keeping their relationships private nowadays, especially celebrities since they attract a lot of attention from media, viewers and fans which indirectly, affects their relationships. Many celebrities have spoken up about how maintaining privacy in their personal lives has helped them to stay away from the constant limelight, giving them a break to breathe in their relationships.

Sharing about your relationship, like posting a picture or two is alright, but many tend to ‘over-share’ their relationships on social media which can have a devastating effect on their relationships. One tends to get too engrossed in sharing the perfect version of their relationship on social media, even so much that maintaining the same level of intimacy in real life becomes difficult.

Mental wellness and relationship expert, Dr Rachna Khanna Singh says, “when we overshare our life on social media, we are opneng our lives to everyone. There will be comments from people because that means you will be exposing yourself publicly. Some of the largest reasons why celebs don’t share their relationships on social media is because they don’t want to validate themselves via people. Validation is something that isn’t needed if you have a strong relationship. You need validation from you and your partner”.

“When it comes to privacy, you’re allowing people inside your private space. Exposing yourself on social media allows many people to comment on your life. Some people may comment negative things or even compare you with others. Many people may not be your well-wishers and this leads to a lot of toxicity. There are many cases where women want to overshare on social media and their partners do not like it, at all. Sharing happy moments on social media is alright, but not oversharing.”
