​Best US cities for single people and the worst

Being single during the holiday season can be tough. Interestingly, this is also the season where you have the opportunity of chance encounters to bump into your supposed love interest! In this day and age of online dating, finding love is even tougher. And if you are someone planning to spend this holiday season in a new city, in hopes of bumping into someone special, you might not want to skip this list.

A new study by WalletHub has listed the best and worst American cities for singles in 2025, that are dating-friendly! According to the U.S. Census Bureau, nearly 46% of the U.S. adult population is technically single - unmarried (never married, divorced, or widowed). In order to help American singles find love, the study has compared more than 180 U.S. cities across 35 key indicators across three categories: ‘economics,’ ‘fun and recreation’ and ‘dating opportunities.’

And guess which is the best city for singles in 2025? Atlanta, GA! Yes, as per the study, Atlanta secured the number 1 spot, for its ‘deeper dating pool’ with over 69% of the city’s population single (never married, widowed, or divorced). This is the eighth-highest percentage in the country. The attractions, restaurants, and nightlife activities, also offer a variety of venues for dates. Atlanta is the 22nd-most accessible city in the country, based on transportation.



Second on the list is Las Vegas, NV. It's perfect for singles to find love, and also live in, with the best and most diverse nightlife. Though we might assume that Las Vegas is expensive, it ranks in the lower half of the country when it comes to dating expenses.

Seattle, WA, being one of the fastest-growing large cities in the U.S. is the third on the list. From social clubs, music festivals, shopping centers, and parks, Seattle offers a variety of venues for the perfect date.

The cities singles should perhaps skip are Garland (Texas), Winston-Salem, and Yonkers among others.
