Ask yourself these questions before breaking up

Ask yourself these questions

Couples break up, be it us commoners or celebs. But sometimes we forget to properly reflect upon the situation and take drastic steps. Breaking someone’s heart leads to lifelong guilt. Ask yourself these questions before you take that step, try to mend it and if you feel it's irreparable, only then break it off. Scroll down, take note of these questions and take time off to think about them.

2/6

Are you suffering from “the grass is greener” syndrome?

It is not uncommon to feel this way. When you are with someone for a long time and get super comfortable with your partner, you feel “bored”. Many people start thinking about their crush and even feel like cheating. This is “grass is greener on the other side” syndrome. Before you jump into this, reflect on what is making you unhappy. Do you feel the spark is gone? How about reviving it yourself? Try everything before giving up.

3/6

Why was I attracted to my partner?

Before you consider breaking up, think back to the time when you first met your partner and reflect on what attracted you to him/her. There must be some qualities which you fell for. We all grow in a relationship and at times we get so caught up in that time on how our partner “used to be”. Are you the same too? If you think you both grew out of your relationship then the break up does make sense.

4/6

Are your priorities in sync?

As we grow in life, our priorities change and it is not necessary that we both are on the same page. It could be about kids, settling outside the country, changing the work scenario, travelling etc. If both are different and there is no middle ground to work together on then parting ways may be the only way out.

5/6

The deal breakers

In every relationship, compromising is crucial but we all have a deal breaker too. You must know what is off limits and that no one is disrespecting that private boundary. Cheating is definitely a part of.

6/6

Do you feel your partner’s love?

If you no longer feel loved, you think you are taken for granted even after having that talk, then a break up can be considered. If a relationship counselor too is not able to bring you two together then you know your answer.
