Anant Ambani-Radhika Merchant’s relationship timeline

India's richest person and Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries, Mukesh Ambani and his wife Nita Ambani's youngest son Anant Ambani will get married to his fiance Radhika Merchant on July 12, 2024. Ahead of their wedding, the Ambanis are hosting a grand pre-wedding celebration in Jamnagar from March 1 to 3 where the who's who from business, tech, celebrity and Bollywood would be seen. So, let's take a look at Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant's relationship timeline here.

Radhika Merchant is the younger daughter of Encore Healthcare Private Limited's CEO Viren Merchant and his wife Shaila Merchant. According to a press release shard by the Ambanis at the time of her Roka with Anant Ambani in 2022, the couple knew each other for a few years before getting engaged.

Radhika's pictures with Anant Ambani first appeared online in 2018, which lead to the specualtions of them being a couple. From December 2018 to March 2019, Radhika was seen attending Anant's elder siblings-- Akash Ambani and Isha Ambani's weddings. Radhika was seen taking part in the family rituals which shows how close she was to the Ambanis back then.

After knowing each other for a few years, Anant and Radhika's roka ceremony was held in 2022. It was performed at the Shrinathji Temple at NathDwara, Rajasthan in the presence of their family and friends.

“Anant and Radhika have known each other for a few years and today’s ceremony commences the formal journey of their marriage in the coming months. Both families seek the blessings and good wishes of everyone for Radhika and Anant as they start their journey of togetherness,” their families had said in a statement after their roka.

Their a grand engagement ceremony in January 2023, also called the 'Gol Dhana' ceremony. In this festivity, Nita Ambani performed Radhika's aarti at the entrance of her Mumbai home, Antilia, amidst the chanting of mantras and blowing of conch shells. Radhika then bowed to and did a namaste to her to-be in-laws, who hugged her in return-- this symbolised her formal welcome into the Ambani household. This was followed by traditional rituals for their official engagement.

'Gol Dhana' literally translates to jaggery and coriander seeds, which are distributed to friends and family thus symbolising the engagement of a couple.

After Anant and Radhika's roka in 2022, Mukesh and Nita Ambani hosted her ‘Arangetram’ ceremony in June 2022 at the Jio World Centre in Mumbai. Radhika is also a trained Bharatanatyam dancer, and her ‘Arangetram’ ceremony was attended by Bollywood ceelebrities including Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, among others.

Since their roka and engagement ceremonies, Radhika has often been spotted with the Ambanis, visiting many temples across the country. For instance, in September 2022, Radhika visited Kerala's Guruvayur temple with her to-bee father-in-law Mukesh Ambani. After a month, Anant Ambani was spotted attending the aarti at the popular Shirdi Sai Temple. In April 2023, Anant and Radhika also attended the opening ceremony of the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) in Mumbai. More recently, Radhika was seen along with the Ambanis at Ayodhya's Ram Temple's consecration ceremony.

After their ‘Lagan Lakhvanu’ ceremony on January 16 in Jamnagar, Anant and Radhika's pre-wedding festivities will also take place there from March 1 to 3, 2024. From Rihanna performing for the audience, to business and tech giants like Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg, and Bollywood and other celebrities attending the bash-- it is going to be a star-studded event.
