7 signs someone is LYING to you

These habits rat you out if you lie

We all lie at some point in our lives even if it is a white lie. It is not difficult to see through lies when someone else says it, it is just that we do not want to accept it or our minds reason with it somewhere. So how do you catch the person when he is lying? Here are 7 signs that can rat out a person when he or she is lying to you.

According to a research by Dr. Leanne ten Brinke, a forensic psychologist at the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley, and her collaborators, the instinct to judge a lie is very strong in all of us but it is our conscious mind that fails us sometimes.

2/8

Being vague

If the person is intentionally leaving out the details of whatever they are speaking on, it is very much possible that he or she is lying.

3/8

Overthinking

When you are narrating something or telling someone something, you talk in a decent flow because you know it well and want to convey it properly too. However, if the person is thinking a bit too much about something he or she should not be, then you know it is probably a lie or they do not want you to know it all.

4/8

Cross questioning bring out other details

So when we do feel unsure of what is being conveyed to us, the best thing is to cross question. However, if the liar gives other details, and there is a change in what was said earlier, you know it is a lie. Why? Because lying is very taxing to the brain and very few people are able to think quickly and then they falter.

5/8

Words are repeated

During the process of lying, people tend to repeat their words or phrases. This can be a huge give away that there is a liar standing opposite you.

6/8

Too much info

When you lie, you try to cover your tracks and tend to give out information much more than what was needed. This is when you can catch the person. But please be sure. Some super talkative people as well act like that.

7/8

Too still

Lying is an art and very few may have mastered it. When you lie, you tend to concentrate so that you do not falter. This makes you become too still as compared to a person who is not lying.

8/8

Change in tone

According to Dr. David Matsumoto, a professor of psychology at San Francisco State University and CEO of Humintell, as reported by Forensics Colleges website, you tend to speak with a high vocal pitch when you lie or it is too low as compared to how you normally talk. You must pay attention to the verbal cues to catch a liar.
