It’s a long ride, new brides!

Getting married is a blissful journey. With the love and support of your partner, entering marital life can be a crazy adventure. But adjusting to the new life, in-laws, relatives and home can be difficult. And it’s not uncommon for new brides to have a hundred questions swirling their minds about how, why and what things they should or should not do. It’s a struggle! This struggle creates few complicated situations in which the bride is unable to decide what to do best. See if you can relate too!

2/6

How to address everyone

Brides wonder how they should call or greet everyone in the in-laws’ home. Addressing people the correct way is a huge thing of respect in Indian society. So, this is what racks brides’ minds up; “should I call the relatives by their names or how my husband calls them?”

3/6

Taking rest in the new home

Weddings can be very tiring. And new brides want nothing more than to rest and sleep till noon, the next day. But they also begin to contemplate whether sleeping till late will be the right thing since she is the new member of the house who’s expected to be around at all times.

4/6

Getting 'alone' time

New brides will probably never get time alone to themselves after a wedding. There are so many people who want to meet the bride and then several post-wedding rituals and customs that include the involvement of the newlyweds. So yeah, no alone time!

5/6

The blessings

Brides love this part! All family members or relatives who come to visit the new bride are given shagun which means, good omens or tokens that represent good luck. Getting presents and money is what most brides would be elated to have!

6/6

Being homesick

Every new bride wonders how soon they can go to meet their family. Homesickness hits really hard just after the wedding. And then all they can think about is when they can talk to their family to tell them about all the exciting things happening after the wedding.
