Here are some reasons

Men not helping with house chores is a common scenario in most Indian households. However, before you jump to conclusions and start blaming the mother for bringing him up in a spoilt manner, we list down other reasons. Scroll down to know 5 reasons why he is not helping out and clear the air.

2/6

The stereotypical beliefs

There are many households, not just in India but around the world, where men embrace the stereotypical beliefs about domestic responsibilities. They believe that there are certain tasks only for women, especially running the house. Right from keeping their own dishes to wash to picking up their clothes, keeping the house clean, cooking etc, all of them are seen as a woman’s job.

3/6

The past criticisms

It is possible that your husband was badly criticised for a task he helped with at home and it has stayed with him. Instead of hearing any kind of yelling or criticism, people tend to stop doing those tasks completely. Not only that, pride can play a major role here and therefore the reluctance to do any house chore.

4/6

He just doesn’t think about things like you do

When we have a lot of things to do that need to be done, we tend to lose out on the big ones. We often get the small things done and by the time we reach the bigger picture, we are too exhausted to even see it. This can happen with anyone and if your husband has been handed too many chores together, it is expected that they forget a lot.

5/6

Just irresponsible

This may be an irresponsible person we are looking at, a person who simply does not want to move. There are many people who just like to live in their mess and not care about what is going on around them.

6/6

You take all responsibilities

If you always end up finishing all the tasks, he will let you do them without complaining. So learn to split the tasks.
