Check what these people have to say

Divorce is a different experience for everyone, all together. Some find it incredibly liberating while some mope around, thinking about their heartbreak. People react differently to divorce since it is a life-changing experience and can alter one’s path entirely. There are a lot of emotions at play here, which go through a lot of stages. Here is what some people have to say about, what life is like after divorce.

2/6

Leaving me for someone else

“My ex-wife left me for someone she had just met. She destroyed our marriage of seven years over a man she just met a few months before. That’s where I felt hurt and rejected the most. I have become lonely, disappointed and very grumpy. My family has brought many rishtas, but I refuse to acknowledge any. I don’t trust anyone enough to be my partner anymore.”

3/6

Abusive marriage

“I felt free to escape from a marriage where my husband tortured me every day. He emotionally abused me, and I never felt safe when I was with him. So, on the day when our divorce got finalised, I felt the happiest. It is lonely to be single, but much better than being in an abusive marriage.”

4/6

Irreconcilable differences

“I simply no longer loved my husband. My parents have been my idols when it comes to being in a happy and healthy marriage. And so, the thought of being in an unhappy one got my gears going. There were certain aspects of my husband that I absolutely hated, and so, divorcing him would be the best possible way. I feel distressed yet happier after divorcing my husband because it means I have the opportunity to find love once again.”

5/6

Long time for healing

“It took me a long time to heal from my divorce. I had started drinking, reminiscing about the days with my wife, when we spent time together. I listened to sad songs and cried almost every day. Losing my wife was unbearable at first, but slowly, I started focusing on myself and things slowly got better. After 10 months, I feel like finding myself on the right path once again.

6/6

Chance of remarrying

“I remarried, once I divorced my ex-husband. My previous marriage had a lot of problems that I was unwilling to experience. When my family brought another rishta in front of me, after my divorce, I was flabbergasted because I didn’t know if I would be able to commit myself to another man again. But now that I think about it, I am truly grateful for the opportunity because life is much simpler when you are with the right person and in a happy marriage.”
