7 weird dating trends you cannot afford to miss

Thanks to hundreds of dating apps and websites, dating today has become more complicated than ever. And to keep your dating life up and running, it’s important that you keep yourself updated about the trends that rules the dating world. Here are a few weird yet trending dating terms, which you cannot afford to miss if you want to have an exciting dating life.

2/8

Benching

This concept is borrowed from the sporting world where a player is part of a team but is made to sit on the bench and await his turn (if it ever comes). Similarly, if a person dates you once or twice, keeps sending you nice romantic texts but never gives you any commitment or shows any signs of taking the relationship to next level, he or she is probably benching you. Chances are that the person may be weighing his options and is dating more than a couple of people.

3/8

Breadcrumbing

More prevalent in the online dating world, this trend can be very emotionally draining. According to Urban Dictionary, “Breadcrumbing is when a guy or girl gives someone just enough attention to keep their hope of a relationship alive.” Just like benching, there is no commitment here but breadcrumbing is the next level of benching because here the person is attentive enough to give the hope of a future relationship.

4/8

Shaveducking

Have you ever been confused if you are in love with the guy or are attracted to him just for his facial hair? Don’t worry, you are not alone. We now have a word to describe that feeling of confusion. It’s called shaveducking. Believe it or not, this is not the right time for men without beard. If you haven’t found a date yet, let your facial hair grow naturally, maybe lady luck will finally smile at you!

5/8

Ghosting

Ghosting is almost equivalent to ‘silent treatment’. When the person you are dating stops communicating with you suddenly and you have no idea about what went wrong, this is called ghosting. According to relationship experts, silent treamnet or ghosting can be very emotionally draining for a person who is subjected to such behaviour.

6/8

Haunting

Yes, there is a term to describe a person’s behaviour who stalks you on social media after a break up. It’s called haunting. Haunting is an almost passive aggressive behaviour when your ex-partner either likes your pictures, posts or your current partner’s photographs on social media. They don’t comment or interact but you know that they are watching every move you make silently. It can be quite terrifying as well as confusing—because you have no idea if the person is still in love with you or is simply being friendly. Trust us, this is the worst feeling ever.

7/8

Flexting

In this age of online dating, we might have done flexting at least once in this lifetime. Wondering what flexting means? It’s as simple as putting up your gymming selfies or writing long posts about books just to impress your love interest on social media. To begin with, flexting is possible between only Facebook, Instagram or other social media friends whom you have never met before and you try to win the person’s heart through your silly virtual show offs!

8/8

Fauxbae'ing

Have you ever pretended to have a boyfriend or a girlfriend over social media but in reality you are single? If you been there and done that, you are actually an expert at fauxbae’ing! People do that to make an ex-partner jealous or just to show that you are special and there is someone in your life who admires you.
