The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle seems to be controversies' favourite child ever since she left her roal life behind back in 2020. Now, after a brief hiatus, Meghan not only joined Instagram but is also making her presence felt as an entrepreneur. More recently, on the occasion of her and Prince Harry's daughter Lilibet's birthday, Meghan shared a never-seen-before video of her dancing while in the hospital's waiting room. In the ‘Baby Momma' dance video, Prince Harry and a heavily-pregnant Meghan can be seen sharing a light moment and twerking.

Their now viral dance video has received mixed reactions from people; meanwhile, a source close to the UK royals revealed that it left the Palace "horrified".

While supporters saw the clip as a sweet memory, critics — especially from royal-watching circles — saw it as another break from traditional royal behaviour which is expected to be more graceful and calm. Some media outlets, including the Daily Mail, quoted palace insiders who reportedly called the video “classless” and even “tragic.” According to the unnamed source, members of the royal family, including King Charles and Queen Camilla, were allegedly “horrified” by the footage, viewing it as yet another example of how Meghan and Harry have distanced themselves from the formal, polished image of the monarchy.



But Meghan, as usual, isn’t letting the criticism dampen her spirit.


Speaking on the Aspire With Emma Grede podcast, the Duchess of Sussex recenty addressed the viral moment with humour. “Did you see my ‘Baby Momma’ dance?,” she asked playfully. When host Emma Grede responded enthusiastically, Meghan laughed and said, “That wasn’t yesterday — that was four years ago! It’s a great reminder that despite all the noise, there’s a real, fun, authentic life happening behind the scenes.”


Meghan used the moment to highlight the importance of authenticity — especially after stepping away from royal duties. She explained that having her own space on social media gives her a way to share who she truly is, without filters or outside control. And when asked if she could change anything about how the public sees her, she said, “I would ask people to tell the truth.”


In typical Meghan fashion, she turned a viral dance video into a statement about freedom, truth, and staying true to yourself — no tiara required.
