Most moms describe the moment they saw their child’s face after delivery as a moment of unexplainable intense emotions. We spoke to moms who shared their experience:
My delivery was a planned one and so when my baby girl was born and the doctor showed me her face, I could not control my tears. I was so overwhelmed. In fact when they were cleaning her, I was intently watching her from a distance and there was immense joy and relief on bringing her safely into this world.
I can never forget that feeling in my life.
Kalpana SharmaI had a long delivery and after 12 hours of labour, when I underwent cesarean operation, I was so tired that it was tough for me to stay awake. A nurse kept on talking to me to ensure that I stay awake to see my baby. And when my baby boy was finally delivered, I heard a cry. When they got him to me, I remember the feeling of intense emotions. I had not seen a more beautiful face than his. I wanted to hold him close to me forever!
Shalini Shah My delivery was a tough one and I was worried whether I will be able to see my baby or not. I was giving up and crying inconsolably. But when I delivered my baby girl, it felt like I had conquered the world. I did not worry about anything anymore and it felt like the biggest victory of my life. I remember insisting that they do her check up while she is close to me. I didn’t want to let her go. She was and still is my biggest possession in the world.
Trapti KalraI had done a lot of kegel exercises and taken prenatal classes. That actually helped in my smooth delivery. When I saw my baby girl, I was overcome with a strange sadness and longing. I realised my baby was not just mine anymore. I felt a strange feeling of abandonment. That was the reason I wanted to not let her go.
