When Kylie Jenner said it was hard being the only one in her circle who was a mom
When Kylie Jenner first became a mother, she was barely out of her teens. She was 20 when she gave birth to Stormi, and 24 when Aire was born. She’s admitted before that it was “wild” looking back at how young she was, and that the emotional part of it, postpartum, finding your footing, takes time. In an episode of Khloé in Wonder Land, she said she’s still figuring out how to balance her identity with being a mom, and that it took time to feel like herself again after having children.
We see those billion-dollar brands, the launch events, the jets, the fashion weeks, but Kylie has talked about the human stuff too. In her British Vogue interview she said Stormi wasn’t planned, but she knew she wanted children so badly. She said motherhood gives her this sense of stability that no amount of fame ever did: no matter what critics or headlines say about her on a given day, her kids love her unconditionally, and that kind of love makes the rest feel smaller.
Kylie told Vogue UK in 2024 that letting go of her own freedom and selfishness at a young age was one of the trickiest parts of being a mom. She said something that hits home for a lot of parents: you don’t realize how selfish you are until you have children. That’s not glamorous, but it’s very real.
And she’s shared honestly about postpartum and how it lingered, how she spent months wearing sweatpants, just trying to feel like herself again, especially after her pregnancies. She’s even talked about how people will throw old photos at her to compare her “post-baby body,” and she pushes back on that by reminding people she had two kids and gained a lot of weight each time. “I was 200 pounds when I gave birth to my 9 pound babies: 8.3 and 8.9,” she said. “I finally lost all the baby weight after my daughter and then got pregnant with my son two months later.”
And she doesn’t shy away from the love part of it. In one Instagram tribute she wrote that sometimes she’ll just look at Stormi and cry because she’ll never be that small again, that even the mundane stuff, like a cute voice or potty talks, is the best part of life. That’s the kind of mom thing plenty of us can nod at, even if our lives don’t have private jets and fashion weeks.
But yeah, it hasn’t all been easy or pretty. On her sister Khloé’s podcast, she opened up about how hard it was being the only one in her circle with kids for a long time, how friends without kids have different lives and expectations, and how that contrast made the whole thing more intense at first. She said she learned to give herself grace and to stop being so hard on herself, something a lot of moms quietly figure out years into parenting.
So, if you look at Kylie Jenner as a mom through her own interviews and words, you see someone trying to be present. Someone who got pushed into adult life really early, and who keeps trying to figure it out one imperfect day at a time. It’s not perfect, it’s not always pretty, but it’s real, or, you know, as real as life can be when half the world’s watching you live it.
