How to be good parents remains a ubiquitous question with debatable answers

Every parent looks for a serious answer to the question: “How to be a good parent?”

However, the answer varies from person to person.

Parents refer to books, look up to their elders, find their own mistakes through their kids and sometimes try to change their parenting style.

The clear definition of a good parent remains blurry, as it varies from everyone’s perspective.

ChatGPT has some valid answers to this question

ChatGPT has been in the news recently. From estimating its credibility to equating it with human intelligence, people have been taking this AI mediated platform very seriously these days.

We asked this question to ChatGPT.

The answer starts with describing what parenting entails. “Being a good parent is a complex and challenging task, and there is no one-size-fits-all approach to parenting,” it said.

3/7

“Love and respect your children”

It is imperative to love and also respect your kids and that’s what makes parents good.

Parental love is extremely important for kids, we all know that but we talk less about parental respect.

Respect is often seen as a one way route from the elders to the younger ones. But what keeps a family and a healthy society intact is mutual respect.

4/7

“Set boundaries and rules”

“Children need structure and boundaries to feel safe and secure. Set clear rules and consequences, and stick to them,” says the ChatGPT.

Just as love is important, setting boundaries and rules makes kids aware of the limitations will make them realise the extent to which they can do certain things. Rules make kids aware of the dos and don’ts.

5/7

“Communicate with your children”

One of the key aspects of parenting is to keep good communication with your kid. It says parents should be friendly with kids so that they do not feel scared of disclosing any information to them.

“Talk to your children and listen to what they have to say. Create a safe and non-judgmental space for them to express their thoughts and feelings,” says the ChatGPT answer.

6/7

Be patient and understanding

“Children make mistakes, and it's important to be patient and understanding with them. Help them learn from their mistakes and grow into responsible adults,” it says.

Patience is an important part of parenting. It is not easy to teach a child, but the only way it can be done is through patience.

7/7

Take care of yourself

Parents who take care of themselves can make good parents and make good parenting decisions.

Both physical and mental care is extremely necessary for parents. In order to be the best parent you need to be in the best state of mind and physical health.

“Remember that being a good parent is a journey, not a destination. You will make mistakes, but it's important to learn from them and keep trying to be the best parent you can be,” it says.
