Signs you're your parent's favourite child

Every parent has a favourite! It's not something that's said aloud and while parents often claim to love all their children equally, there's always that one child who they confide in, prefer talking to, take advice from and go out to have fun. That said, if you're someone who is constantly quarreling with your sibling/s about being the favourite child, then here are some signs that could clearly help you win the argument.

While there is no escaping the wrath of the parents, especially when you commit a terrible mistake, being the favourite could cut you some slack. You probably never got punished for getting a poor grade or fighting with your brother or sister. Instead your mum or dad may have let you off easy with a warning or a sweet talk.

Parents usually never give kids the benefit of the doubt. But if it's got to do with their favourite kid, they'll refrain from making assumptions, let them have a say, hoping to be surprised by their true intentions, which may or may not be the case.

Rather than keeping their date of birth as their password, if your D.O.B. is what unlocks their laptop or phone or holds the key to their mails, then surely you are the apple of their eye! After all, they could have chosen any one of your sibling's dates of birth. But they chose yours.

If you are the go-to person for advice for your parents, then probably you are their favourite! From all the family gossip to their personal problems, weirdly they think that you have answers to all.

Whether in-person or on the phone, if you're your parents' favourite child, they're most likely to speak to you in a softer, more loving tone. On the contrary, they'll always sound strict and harsh while speaking to your siblings.

One way to find out whether you are your parents' favourite child is by observing if they go around boasting about your successes and achievements to everyone. No matter how underconfident you are about yourself, your parents will always take pride in what you have achieved so far. On the contrary, they may not do the same about your siblings.

While your mom or dad may be extremely close to you, your siblings may feel the complete opposite. They'll be uncomfortable to be around you or to share their secrets with you, since they already know how close you are with your parents. They dread telling you anything as there's a high chance you would rat them out.
