Australian man is father to 60 children

As per a report in the Independent, a man in Australia is father to 60 children. The man is a sperm donor and has been donating sperm under fake names.

As per reports, the man used four different aliases to donate sperm.

How was this revealed?

"Parents from an LGBTQ+ community grew suspicious when they met at an event for new parents and noticed some of their children looked similar. They then began calling local IVF facilities to investigate," the media reported.

Why did he do so?


It is believed that the man offered this service in exchange for gifts and holidays.

Dr Anne Clark from Fertility First, where the man had gone once, told News Corp that he had been to her clinic once but he "had offered his services through several unofficial means, such as Facebook groups."

The man used four different identities

After contacting the fertility clinics it was revealed that the man has been using different names to donate sperm.

It was after parents noticed how similar their children looked like they grew suspicious and try to find the cause. ​

Is it legal to do so?

Under the Human Tissue Act it is illegal in Australia for a person to exchange or receive gifts for giving another person human organs or tissues.

Dr Clark calls it "a complete criminal offense".

In Australia this crime carries a maximum 15-year prison sentence.

Sperm donation is a process of collecting the semen and donating it. It is done with the intent that it will be used in the artificial insemination process and other assisted reproductive technologies.

It is one of the most common types of fertility treatment.
